Mill Bay Baptist Fellowship is seeking a Lead Pastor after accepting the resignation of our former Pastor
of 10 years who has transitioned into his retirement.

Our fellowship is in Mill Bay, on Vancouver Island in Beautiful British Columbia about 42 km north of our
provincial capital, Victoria. Mill Bay Baptist Fellowship is a multi-cultural faith community with a
congregation of about 95 – average attendance of about 65. Our vision is to be “a community following
Jesus, with a heart for the region and beyond”, by loving God, loving one another, and loving our
neighbors in the manner expressed by Jesus. We are praying to see the church grow younger by
refreshing our worship services to better reflect our current times, encouraging youth to be part of
worship and leadership, and by continuing to spread the love and fellowship we are known for inside
and outside our church community. Our church is very involved in assisting refugees to come to Canada
and helping them settle.

General Position Description:
In collaboration with and accountable to the Church Elders Board, the Lead Pastor will be a Minister of
the Gospel, in full harmony with the Statement of Faith of the Church (

              1. Leadership
                • Collaborates with other pastoral staff in providing leadership to the congregation.
                • Attends and participates in Elders Board meetings, and provides encouragement and leadership
                at Congregational meetings, and other Committees as needed.
                • Assists in and encourages healthy decision-making regarding current issues facing the
                congregation, including, but not necessarily limited to: property development, staffing, financial
                stability, creative community outreach, and the children, youth, and family programs.
                • Gives leadership in working towards the vision and ministry priorities of the church.
              2.  Primary Communicator for the Church
                • Preaching.
                • Planning services.
                • Promoting systematic Bible study.
                • Communicating with the wider community as called upon.
              3. Providing Pastoral Care
                • Provides pastoral care to the congregation and the community, with prayer and biblical counsel.
                • Walks alongside and provides spiritual support to individuals and families in times of crisis.
                • Works with and supports the members of the Elder Board in care and visitation.
              4. Worship
                • Takes responsibility for planning and leadership of worship services in a contemporary style,
                with input from the worship teams and pastoral staff.
                • Coordinates with the Media team in the area of technology.
              5. Spiritual Growth and Education
                • Oversees new member orientation.
                • Oversees small and large group educational and spiritual enrichment programs.
                • Promotes and supports leadership development within the congregation.
              6. Church Administration
                • Provides leadership, encouragement, and support for office volunteers.
                • Oversees church printed and electronic communications.
                • Promotes the “MBBF Safe Ministries Policy”, while integrating all ages into the fullness of the
                Church’s vision and integrating children and families into the heart of all church life and


              1. Spiritual maturity as an overseer.
              2. Highly relational with families and individuals.
              3. Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from recognized theological college, Master’s
                degree preferred.
              4. Experience: Minimum of five years of relevant pastoral leadership.
              5. Ordained or eligible for ordination with the Canadian Baptists of Western Canada.
              6. Satisfactory Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Checks.

Highly desirable:

              1. Creative and innovative.
              2. Musical talent.
              3. Knowledge of computer and media technology.

Hours per Week: This is a full time position with the expectation of 40 hours per week.

Compensation will be commensurate with training and experience.
