Who We Are Becoming
A Christ-Centered Community for All Ages and Nations
In proclaiming and living out the Gospel of Reconciliation for which Christ died and rose again, Mill Bay Baptist Fellowship will strive to celebrate existing cultures and ages within our community and expand our community to include all cultures and ages beyond our current demographics.
Who We Are Now
While many of us are grey-haired, we are young at heart, eager to include other cultures, and will treat you like family.
We place a major emphasis on being and becoming more and more multicultural and multigenerational because we believe this is the future of the church! Every culture and every age group has something unique and beautiful to pass on, down, or up to the other. We are all made in the image of God, and as His people we have all been reconciled to Him and to one another. Our hope is to grow more and more into a right relationship with God, a right relationship with one another, and a right relationship with the world.
Our church is a refugee sponsoring church, which has enriched our fellowship in more ways than we can count. Through the blessings of God, He has used us to help four families so far to resettle in the Cowichan Valley, with another 5 families planned to come in the next few years. We call this ministry Friends of Hope. Check it out here!
We believe in the priesthood of all believers and see through Scripture the equality that women have to men in the Body of Christ in all areas of ministry, service, and spiritual giftedness. We are a church that supports both men and women who are called by God as Pastors and Elders.
We continue to believe God has a bright future for the Church in being the light of the Gospel of Jesus to the community.
How It Started
In 2010 a group that was meeting in a home for Bible studies felt led by God to organize a Church in the Mill Bay, Shawnigan Lake, Cobble Hill area. The group moved to the Mill Bay Community League Hall and started having services.
The current five-acre property was purchased in Mill Bay in January 2014. The Church continued to move forward and under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, construction of the building began July 19, 2017. While Sunday gatherings continued in the Hall, occasional activities, such as community barbecues, were held on the Church property. The congregation moved into the Church facility with the first service on September 2, 2018.
MBBF is situated in Mill Bay, but also draws people from Shawnigan Lake, Cobble Hill, Duncan, and Langford.
Association
MBBF is associated with the Canadian Baptist of Western Canada.
